HENDERSON, Ky. -- Dozens of booths selling handmade items.
Seasonal food in a beautiful autumn setting.
Wagon rides and games for kids.
All are hallmarks of the Henderson Lions Arts & Craft Festival at Audubon.
The two-day event on the first weekend of October has been taking place for many year (47 to be exact) under different organizers, but the Henderson Lions Club took it over five years ago to breathe some new energy into it.
That has certainly taken place. There is a large variety of arts and crafts at this festival, and some shoppers have made it a tradition for launching their holiday shopping.
In 2018 vendors came from Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida in addition to Kentucky.
Parking is plentiful and accessible, and the Lions Club offers a couple of types of shuttles throughout the park to make it easy for visitors.
Admission to the festival is free, but there is a $5 parking fee that’s good for the entire day.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 6.
Vendor registrations are still being accepted for the 2019 festival. The fee is $125 for a craft booth and $175 for a concessions booth. There are 150 booth spaces available.
