HENDERSON, Ky. -- Remembering Henderson's connection to the attack on Pearl Harbor, on Dec. 7, 1941, the Depot Community Room's 2018 Veterans Exhibit includes an expanded display on Admiral E.H. Kimmel, a native Hendersonian who was Commander of the Pacific Fleet at the time of the attack that led the United States into the Second World War.
This year's main focus of the veterans' exhibit is a visual display on the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. The exhibit also features a Veterans' Christmas tree which honors Henderson County military veterans. Military veterans who were born or resided in Henderson County, and their friends or family members, are invited to bring a photo to be scanned, printed, and mounted on a star which will be placed on the tree. A digital image can also be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the veteran's name, rank, branch of service, service dates, and any other interesting information such as service during wars or conflicts, etc.
The Depot Community Room is located in the Welcome Center at 101 N. Water St., Henderson, Kentucky. Hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
