HENDERSON, Ky. -- The City of Henderson Municipal Building at 222 First St. will be the collection point this year for the decades-long community holiday project known as Goodfellows.
The change is being made because The Gleaner office, which for years as been the collection point for Goodfellows, no longer maintains business hours.
The Gleaner will still publish the names of donors to Goodfellows (or memorial tributes) both on-line and in the printed version of The Gleaner.
Checks should be made payable to Goodfellows.
You can drop off or mail all Goodfellows donations to the City of Henderson.
Donations can be taken to the first floor where utility payments are received, can be dropped off at the drive-through window or placed in the night depository.
Payments can be mailed to: City of Henderson, P.O. Box 716, Henderson, Ky. 42419. Please mark "Goodfellows" on the envelope.
Goodfellows has been a tradition in Henderson since 1939. Donations fund a party in mid-December to provide clothing, toys and other items for about 600 low-income Henderson children between the ages of 4-11.
The children in need are identified with the help of the Family Resource Centers at each school in the county.
At the party, besides gifts of clothing and toys, there will be clowns, balloons, cake, games, and, of course, Santa.
