HENDERSON, Ky. -- Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 27, Henderson Water Utility will begin a two- to three-month project along South Main Street from Drury Lane to Yeaman Avenue.
HWU crews will be replacing an old 6-inch water main with a new 8-inch water main. The old water main has reached the end of its life expectancy. Replacing the water main will improve water quality and quantity in the area, and also help with fire protection.
Most of the work will take place off the roadway along the west side of South Main Street, with minimal traffic disruption, however complete road closings will occur from time-to-time during the project. Homeowners will be notified of work across driveway crossings, and of water service connections to the new water main.
The work will be done in two phases. Phase 1 will cover the area between Drury Lane and Hackberry Street, and should be completed in four to six weeks. The weather will affect the time to complete the project.
Phase 2 will cover the area between Hackberry Street and Yeaman Avenue. Phase 2 will also take four to six weeks to complete.
Please avoid the area if at all possible.
