HENDERSON, Ky. -- A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has completed construction on a new traffic signal along Kentucky 812/Airline Road at the Garden Mile Road/Sam Ball Way intersection in Henderson County at the east edge of Henderson, and it's about to go into service.
The KYTC District 2 Traffic Group plans to place the new signal in flashing mode on Friday, Nov. 17. The new signal will remain in flashing mode for about one week to allow motorists to become familiar with the new signal location.
The signal is expected to be placed in full green-yellow-red operation sometime on Nov. 22.
Motorists should be alert for changes in traffic flow this new signal will create at the intersection.
This intersection is located at Kentucky 812 milepoint 6.774. This is along Kentucky 812/Airline Road between the U.S. 41 Overpass and the Audubon Parkway Underpass at the east edge of Henderson.
Approximately 7,000 vehicles travel through this intersection in an average day. This intersection has been the site of several side angle crashes and one fatality crash in recent years. It also gets a substantial amount of school bus and school traffic due to the proximity to Henderson County High School.
