HENDERSON, Ky. -- A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has started construction on a new traffic signal on Kentucky 812/Airline Road at the Garden Mile Road/Sam Ball Way intersection in Henderson County.
The intersection has been the site of several side angle crashes and one fatality crash in recent years. It also gets a substantial amount of school bus and school traffic due to the proximity to Henderson County High School.
Construction activity will ramp up in coming weeks. Motorists should use appropriate caution whenever they encounter electrical crews working at the intersection. Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers during daylight hours. Motorists should also be alert for equipment and installation personnel along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
This intersection is located at Kentucky 812 milepoint 6.774.This is along Kentucky 812/Airline Road between the U.S. 41 Overpass and the Audubon Parkway Underpass at the east edge of Henderson.
Approximately 7,000 vehicles travel through this intersection in an average day.
Weather permitting, the new signal could be ready for activation sometime in late November or early December. When the signal is ready for activation it will be placed in flashing mode for approximately one week to allow motorists to become familiar with the location.
