HENDERSON, KY, May 17, 2017– The City of Henderson’s Finance Department and Director Robert Gunter have received an award for the City’s budget presentation from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
It was the eighth time that the Finance Department has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the budget. The award was for the Fiscal Year 2017 budget. This is the budget equivalent to GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The award was noted in the FY 2018 budget that was presented to the City of Henderson Board of Commissioners at a budget work session on Tuesday night.
“We believe the fiscal 2018 budget continues to conform to program requirements, and we are submitting it to GFOA to determine its eligibility for another award,” said Henderson City Manager Russell Sights.
“All finance department staff members and the department heads and their staff members who participate in preparing and presenting the budget are to be commended for bringing this recognition to the city and for their contributions to earning this distinction,” Sights added.
The guidelines are designed to assess how well the City’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.
