HENDERSON, Ky. – Following the closure of the local office of Kentucky Career Center at Second and Water streets in February, Green River Intra-County Transit System (GRITS) is now offering daily transportation from Henderson to the Owensboro Career Center regional office.
The Audubon Area Community Services/GRITS vehicle picks up passengers at the Henderson County Courthouse at 8:45 a.m. every weekday. For the return trip to Henderson, the bus leaves the Owensboro Career Center at 2 p.m.
Cost for the round-trip is $1. Riders should look for the red, white and blue GRITS vehicle parked on the street near the courthouse. Its parking location is determined by availability.
Passengers are required to follow GRITS passenger rules posted in each vehicle. Advance scheduling is not required. Passengers must bring their own car seats or booster seats if required.
Owensboro Career Center is located at 3108 Fairview Drive. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephone number is (270) 687-7297. Services offered at the Owensboro office include job seeker, unemployment insurance, training and employer.

For those without access to a personal computer or internet service, the Henderson County Public Library’s computer lab is open from 9 a.m. to 7:50 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. on Fridays and 1:30 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. on Sundays. The library offers free and open wifi service throughout the building at all times.
The Housing Authority of Henderson hours are 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.
